Riley Lawrence is the daughter of Johnny Lawrence. She lives with him in a shabby apartment down in Reseda. She has a twin brother, Robby Keene, but the two were separated when their parents split. Her life experience's some changes when a family moves into an apartment across from hers. Riley never even knew her dad knew how to do karate until this boy showed up.. now her dads running a dojo!? Riley didn't even know what a dojo was! What happens when Riley and Miguel start to train in the new Cobra Kai dojo?

Within the first two days, he stirred up trouble with the Cobra Kia's, a gang of Karate students that are trained to think everyone who disagrees with them is the enemy. One thing that makes it worse for the both of them is Marie's previous relationship with Johnny Lawrence, the head student of the Cobra Kai's. Luckily for both of them, the maintenance man, Mr Miyagi, comes to the rescue with a little help from Marie.
