. On the day her twin sister "died," or that what she thought everything she knew shattered. She remembered the scream, the fall, the blood-and then the world changed. In the chaos, no one asked her what really happened. They didn't care to hear her version. Her parents, once the warmth in her world, turned cold overnight. The brothers who loved her most began to look at her like a monster. Whispers filled the house. Accusations behind closed doors. She was blamed, judged, and punished-not by strangers, but by her own blood. And then, without warning, they sent her away. A boarding school in another country, they said, as if it were for her own good. But it wasn't a school-it was a cage dressed in discipline. Far from home, far from love, she entered a place no child should ever be. Hidden behind iron gates and smiling lies, that school was a breeding ground for cruelty. Every corner held secrets. Every night was a nightmare. And no one ever came looking for her. Not a single letter. Not a single call. They forgot her- Years passed. . And then came the call. Her family wanted her to return. As if they still had the right to call her back. But the girl who left never came back-not really. What returns now is someone colder, quieter, sharper. She tells herself she feels nothing for them. That she's learned to live without love. That hatred is easier than hope. But buried beneath the years and pain, there is still a small voice inside her-a child's voice-aching to be believed, to be seen, to be forgiven for a crime she never committed. Will her family finally face what they've done? And when the truth comes out-will it set her free, or break her all over again?

"Nowhere is safe, you know?" Foster homes, orphanages, replacement homes, you name it, Georgia Monroe has never fit in anywhere. From a young age, she has only known that running away and constantly losing track of those that are supposed to care for her, is a way of survival. A way to escape. She hardly knows her real name, as people are constantly trying to change it, whilst all she wants to do is fit in. It's like she knows that she has a real family out there, no matter how many times people try to tell her that they either didn't want her, before explaining all the reasons why no one would want her, or that they all died, and she will never know them. For years, Georgia has tried to decipher the difference between words thrown at her in rage and due to alcohol, but as the years go by, it is harder to see the difference. It's harder not to believe the words. The words of her family not wanting her and that they may be dead, probably as a result of her sake. All she wants, is a pair of safe arms that will take the stress of her shoulders, for a little while. Only, she doesn't know how great of a deal she is asking of those that are her family. She will never understand the depth of the work that her real family has been intertwined, and maybe not living with them, has kept her alive. Has made her a stronger person than she would have been if she had grown up with them from the beginning. Georgia, though it may feel like to her, isn't the only one that has suffered. Though her brothers home may be idealistic and fit for a king and queen in her eyes, it is far from it. Behind all the luxury and money spilling from the walls, it hadn't been like that their entire lives. It wasn't easy to attain such wealth without risking a few lives here and there, including Georgia's, their sister. __________________________________________________________________ Started: 11.10.21 Finished: 21.08.22 Rewritten: 17.08.25 -

Balancing Sheets and Hearts

46 parts Ongoing Mature

Veer had always believed numbers were safer than people. Equations didn't judge, balance sheets never laughed when he stammered, and silence was easier than speaking up. In a crowded CA coaching class, he was just another backbencher-quiet, invisible, and perfectly fine with it. Until Kiara sat three rows ahead. Ambivert. Bright. The kind of girl who could make friends over a single chai break, yet often disappeared into her own thoughts when no one was watching. She was everything Veer wasn't-confident, effortless, alive. Their worlds were never meant to cross. But when study sessions turned into late-night conversations, and shared calculators became shared secrets, Veer realized that maybe life wasn't just about balancing accounts. Maybe it was about balancing hearts. And in the quiet corners of ledgers and libraries, a shy boy and a not-so-simple girl might just learn that love doesn't need to be loud to be real.
