After years at Hawkmoth's mercy, Marinette has decided that enough is enough and is reaching out to Batman, the detective of detectives to help her track down the villian's true identity. Damian always assumed that the discomforting emotions he felt in Marinette's presence were because he couldn't stand the woman. However after an unlikely encounter in a darkened alley, Damian comes to the harrowing realisation that he has actually been in love with her the entire time. What's worse? Marinette is under the assumption that Damian hates her. Damian needs to fix this, if he can only figure out how to talk to her without dissolving into an emotional mess. Prompt: Imagine a world where we didn't hate each other. That would be so (fill in the blank) --- This is literally watching Damian turn into goo around Marinette after realizing he loves her. (This was originally a one-shot on Ao3 but I separated it into chapters here because a 28k one-shot is excessive. After four years of Hawkmoth threathing everything they hold dear and praying on every negative emotion the young heroes are tired and weary. The stakes have slowly risen with every battle and even with the Lucky Charm cure they can longer ignore the aches of wounds that aren't there. When Marinette gets the class a trip to Gotham she isn't sure what to expect. However she can say for sure she didn't expect to attract the attention of a certain vigilante/billionaire family.
