20 year old Ariella Morgenstern lost her mother to an evil sorcerer when she was just seven years old, and has had some pain in her heart since, though her father, King Oberon, hates magic, but not nearly as much as King Uther, because of it. Ever since, Ariella has been sent to the city of Camelot, in her father's hopes that she could marry Prince Arthur, but Ariella only sees him as a brother, and wants to marry for love.

Ariella and her brother Eric are sent to Camelot once again. There, Ariella meets Arthur's new man servant for the first time, and they immediately form a bond-a bond that which cannot be broken.

The Great Dragon knows that Ariella is to help Merlin protect Arthur and to unite the land of Albion-but what he failed to mention, was the very important fact that she and Merlin are meant to be together, despite Ariella being a princess, and Merlin, a servant.
