Merak duygusunun dilimizde karşılığı, bir şeyi anlamak ve öğrenmek için duyulan istek şeklindedir. Bu anlama ve öğrenme süreci çocuğun etrafını anlamlandırdığı dönemde başlar diye düşünsek de  ben bunun doğuştan gelen bir dürtü olduğunu düşünüyorum. Merak ve keşfetme ilk önce bedenin ve çevrenin keşfiyle başlar. Çocuk kendini keşfetmeye başlar. Çocuğu saatlerce bir uzvunu incelerken görmek bunun bir kanıtıdır. Gelişim devam ettikçe dil gelişimiyle sürekli soru sorma dönemine geçilir. Merak ve keşfetme arzusu akla gelen her şeyi sormayı gerektirir. "Hı,hı" ile geçiştirilmeyi, baştan savma cevapları haketmez.  Çocuğun sorduğu sorulara anlamlı basit ve sade cevaplar verilerek daha çok sorması yüreklendirilmelidir. Sorulan soruları saçma sapan sorular olarak nitelendirmemek gerekir. Çocuğun dünyasını ve bu keşif yolculuğunu sabırla anlama gayreti içerisinde olmalıyız.
Merak ve keşfetme işi okuldan önce evde başlar. Bu yüzden okul öncesi döneme girişin temelleri ebeveynlerin tutumlarında saklıdır. Ebeveynlerin çocuklarındaki merak ve keşif duygusunu tetikleyici faaliyetlerde bulunmaları çok değerlidir. Birlikte belgesel izlemek, kitap okumak, sanatsal görsel okumalar yapmak, kamp yapmak gibi... Çocukların araştırmalarına, öğrenmelerine ve yeni bilgilerin doğruluğunu sorgulamalarına izin vermeliyiz. Merak ve keşif duygusu kalıcı öğrenmenin temelidir.

Personally, I never saw myself as an optimistic person. I never really had any friends, I didn't share feelings for people, I never really had any social life whatsoever. My life was always boring. I have a small friend group, containing people of 4. Me including, Nathan, Carly, and Dalton. We've known each other since early middle school. I, Kyle, have known Carly and Dalton since grade school. It is rolling up to be Summer. Us 4, have decided to make this Summer year the best of our lives.
