Salem G. Baker spends all her time at school being harassed for her name. It doesn't help that her mother was a witch or that her English class started a new unit about the Salem Witch Trials.
One night, when Salem is at the neighborhood park working on some of her writing, the captain of the football team walks up to her. What confuses Salem about this situation is, not that was there, but that he was being nice.
This story may seem like a cliche, but trust me, it is most definitely not.

Emery Ashford had a smart mouth. She was known for it. As an outgoing teenager Emery was always hanging out with friends and with a lack of filter she always said what was on her mind. Especially if it had to do with that irritative jock. She hated him with every fiber in her body. She hated his charming nature, his arrogance, his lack of care, and the way he got on her nerves. But the thing she hated most, although she'd never admit it, is that she would stick up for him. Not like he ever needed it. She wanted nothing more than to get away from him. But it's completely impossible. He lived right across the street. Everything about senior year had been going smoothly until, Bang. Jackson Riley had a pretty mouth. Pretty face too. As the school's football captain he's always been the talk. For years he's been entertained by the smartass that is Emery Ashford. She was a pain in his ass, but he knew he'd be bored without her. When he ends up giving Emery another concussion, he's determined to make the last two months of her senior year hell. That's if he hasn't been doing that already. There's only one thing in his way. Concussion or not Emery isn't going down without a fight. It seems the more she doesn't want him around, the more he happens to be. Riley's past isn't something most kids go through. Bad things happened, but when she got older, her dad decided it was best to move, and get away from something that seemed to haunt Riley. They moved from Arizona to California. About 1/4 into her junior year, Riley had to go to a new school, and make new friends. She didn't really care about having friends though, as long as she was able to play soccer, she would be okay. Soccer had always been there for her, when her mom died, when she didn't have anyone else, when she was in a bad mood. It was always there for her to play. She didn't need anyone else. That changed when she met Brooke Eckmann. Brooke is also a junior in high school, and is the varsity teams goalie. When they first meet on the field, it was something different. She couldn't stop thinking about her. It was something both of them had never felt before. Everyone fears him, knowing damn well that he's the kind of guy that won't hesitate to send you crying just for breathing in his direction. Well, everyone but Veronica Stone. Veronica Stone is the captain of the school's girls soccer team and everyone knows that's she's one of the best female player in the country. Unlike Blake, Veronica is known as the girl that's always seen with a smile on her face. She has guys after her, but she doesn't even know about it. Well, other than Blake Wilder. At first, the two can't stand each other, but what happens when they realize that they're basically forced to tolerate each other?
