|WATTYS 2022 WINNER - HORROR| Shawn, a convicted criminal, never thought she'd see the sun again, let alone call another star system her home. When she's offered an out from her prison sentence, she embarks on a dangerous interstellar expedition along with 18 of Earth's most intelligent criminals. Their task is to set up a base on a supposedly habitable planet and prepare it for colonization. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The five survivors retreat to the cavernous network beneath the ground seeking safety, but they soon come to a terrible discovery. These caves aren't ordinary caves, and they are no safer down under than they were on the surface. In my world you have to be one of the Elite. After graduating from 8th grade it is a shitshow. You wait long intense nights filled with fear because you know one day they will come for you. They will get you mark my words on that. One day you will be ripped away from the comforts of your own home and shipped away to the cruise. None of the adults speak of what happens on the cruise. I can tell based off of the haunted look in there eyes it's nothing good. I've heard tall tales of a place full of hopes and dreams. They call this place High school. High school is just that though...a dream. In the real world all we have is the cruise. The cruise where some never return from. In my world it is survival of the fittest. During a massive drought, a Water Witcher goes trekking across several states to visit a friend but finds himself in danger when a group called The Hounds begins hunting him down. The home he once shared with his grandfather feels more like an empty shell with echoes of memories. Deciding to head for the road to visit a friend, he sets out to wander what's practically become a wasteland. Except, he soon discovers that since his last adventure north, Water Witchers are being captured and sold to high bidders by a group called The Hounds.
