Layla Harding thought that her life was pretty complete. A college junior, she had the internship of her dreams in Los Angeles, two best friends that always managed to pull her out of her shell, and a bright future ahead of her. Sure she had some rocky family history, but who didn't? Yet, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing, something that would make her whole. On a seemingly normal night of clubbing, Layla accidentally witnesses the elusive Hunter Michaelson commit a crime, and she soon becomes the target of his interest. Hunter can't let her go free, now that she has information that must stay quiet. He intends on keeping Layla under his control to hide his secret, but he soon realizes there is much more to this alluring angel. Layla wants nothing to do with the dangerous criminal that is Hunter Michaelson, but over time, she comes to notice the man underneath, and lines begin to blur. She looks up at me, taking a step forward and smiling slightly, "How can I ever get hurt when I have you here to protect me?" "But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. He has countless tattoos covering his body. And he doesn't care about anything or anyone else.
