As readers, we all feel like books are magic. But in Alia's world, they really are-or The Book is, at least. They say it was a gift from the gods, the source of the magic that runs through Beldara and a way to document the amazing adventures of the Heroes. Alia has always been fascinated by the Book and its wonderful stories, but her gender and birth mean she can never join the priesthood and tend to the storytelling magic.

But when something goes wrong in the latest chapter of the Story, only Alia's ability for reading has a chance at unraveling the mystery. She'll have to fight her way against great odds--first against the willpower of her elders and then against the terrors of the outside world--if there's to be any chance at success. Good thing she has a few Heroes at her side... Or is it?

The first 50,000 words of this were written in 30 days for NaNoWriMo 2014. The rest is continuing at fast pace, and updates are once a week. Check it out if you love reading, magic, adventure, romance, and a fresh and original story.

Things an autistic, bisexual bookworm can find in a library: Books. Periodicals. Kinky vampire librarians... Wait. Stop. KINKY VAMPIRE LIBRARIANS? Yes. And the most profound love she has ever known. A shy public reference librarian, and a college dropout who was disowned when she refused to submit to conversion therapy, encounter each other in a bookstore. He's been waiting his whole life for her. Meanwhile, she's starting her whole life over. What ensues between the two neurodivergent lovers is magic. Given that he's about to become her tutor in the magickal and erotic arts, that's only to be expected. With its mystical, darkly romantic academic setting, and its quirky misfit characters, this is a bisexual coming-of-age story like you've never read before. Amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant... *~* This edition of Ancilla has been serialized for greater ease of smartphone use. Like the original edition, which was added to Wattpad After Dark's BDSM booklist on May 10, 2024, it contains mature and explicit material. Reader discretion is advised. Readers who are stumbling on this novel in search of "spice" will find it, and it is hotter than a ghost pepper - however, be advised that compared to other books of this nature, Ancilla has a very slow burn, and there is more to the plot than just "spice." All edit-art illustrations used as chapter introductions, conclusions, and section breaks are my own work.
