Amused, she looked at the young couple walking past her hand in hand. The feeling faded the closer the couple got to an empty table in the café, and turned to heaviness as they sat down.
She poked around at her sundae, which was actually too big for one person to devour.
Hand in hand ... What would it be like to hang out with someone just for the sake of people?
She sighed. A heavenly spectacle soaked in blood spread over her. Dusk was relentlessly advancing.
Soon such a red color would spread over her body. And only the silence of the night would stay with her as she struggled to regain control of her writhing body.
She grinned, licked her lips. The shadow was suddenly wiped away.
That was the price she paid, wasn't it? Feeling alive in a body that wasn't hers.
There would be no help for something that didn't need to be saved. Meat was always meat. And it was fine like that.
