Solstice Cassiopeia Ciaran is apart of the scooby-gang. 

She was in the car with Elena and her parents on wickery bridge that night. Instead of staying in the car and being saved by Stefan like Elena was, Solstice hit her head and fell out her door that was open. She was dead for 40 minutes before they finally got her back to the living. 

Instead of accepting pity and constantly having people feel bad for her, she shut herself in her house for a month till she was physically healed and when she was finally out in public, people didn't know what to do. 

Now enter Stefan Salvatore and the supernatural world into her life.
