I've been neglected my whole life, I know how to use nen but I've never had the proper training. Maybe if my parents didn't leave Me to my brother when I was 7 it wouldn't be so difficult, he wanted to be a doctor and I helped out with his studies, learning one of my nen abilities while doing so. I was never really close with him, even though he raised me I never got close to him. He has his scars and so do I, we both went our separate ways when we were 16 and I haven't seen him since.
