On Planet 546 B, the humans had left the planet thinking they knew everything about it. The tech that was left behind, the creatures living there, and the cure. They were also able to completely destroy the Kharaa Virus before they left.

One of the humans activated a few dozen drones before the left in order to monitor the planet for any sighs of the Kharaa in case it returned or for any new discoveries. The humans also may have left a few barrels of mutagenic substance in the water.

However, one of those drones woke something up, something...
