FLARES

"Not knowing was so much better than knowing I'm the reason for their death. I've spent so much time hating them for leaving me to grow up in this world without any help." With tears streaming down my face, I turned to my nana.
"You really can't blame yourself for what happened to them, my dear." She said, taking my face in her hand. "It wasn't your fault. It was the making of a mad man, desperate for power, and will stop at nothing to get it. Your mother knew this. That's why she did what she did to protect you."
I could feel what's left of my heart was breaking into pieces. I don't even know what to do. I could feel my power roaring in me, but nothing could make me feel better. I looked around the house I grew up in, reminiscing on my past ignorance, hating my parents for abandoning me, not knowing they were dead, and they died protecting me.
I've gone years without knowing who I was or what bloodline I fall into because my powers wouldn't manifest themselves. I can feel it in me, but it would only come out in fragment. Everyone labeled me the flare dud, the freak of the community.
I love Niagra, and I've lived here all my life, but I've always wanted to escape to the world of the earthlings. Their lives are so much easier than the flares.
Now, knowing the man who caused my parent's death seat on the bed of the kingdom like he never ruined anyone's life makes my blood boil, and I want retribution.
