ray noticed the small changes in her. before when the three of them walked down the road together, emma would grab onto ray's sleeve and pull him up next to her so they all could walk side by side.

but now, she never spares him a second glance. her fingers instead were enclosed in a hand that was not his. they all still walked together, but ray was always just a few steps behind them.
