Let's face it. Life is just a cruel, heartless bitch who ruins people just for the fun of it. She momentarily gives them a glimmer of hope or happiness, then coldly cuts them back down again.

They thought this whole misery business was a phase, and to be honest, so did you, but it never got any better. It was the start of an eternal downward spiral.
