There were times when Kirstie would turn her eyes to Avi to see him staring into space with empty eyes. Sometimes he'd disappear for hours and return more quiet and jumpy than usual. He'd come to rehearshal avoiding everyone's eyes with a bandaged hand or a bruise on his chin. He never talked about his girlfriend anymore and she swore she saw a flash of anxiety in his eyes when Scott asked him to bring her to a dinner. On these days, Scott is the calm and steady anchor that helps him through the storm. Based loosely on my own experiences with anxiety and panic attacks. It can be difficult, and sometimes we just need someone to stand by us through the storms until we can stand on our own. On that note, possible trigger warning for description of a panic attack. She said that you and Mitch will love each other and will be perfect together. If that's true, Scott, I want you to promise me a couple of things. I want you to promise me that you'll always make Mitch happy, whether it's in a marriage, relationship, or friendship. I want you to promise you'll never give up on him. He needs some stability in his life, Scott, and I'm hoping you'll be his rock. I want you to promise me that he can trust you in good times and in bad. I want you to promise me that he continues singing. The last promise is this: promise to love and cherish him forever. Can you promise me these things, Scott? Can you promise to love him for the rest of your years?" Tears start to swell in Mitch's eyes. I walk down to where he's sitting and I wipe the tears escaping from his eyes. I take his hands and kiss them, and I whisper into his ear two words. "I promise."
