On complete accident, Chris Cerulli became a father at the tender age of 20 with his girlfriend at the time, Carlie. He named his daughter Riley, and Riley became the most important thing in Chris' life. Three and a half years later, Chris decides that he and Riley would be better off without Carlie and he pushes Carlie out of their lives. Chris and Riley are actually doing very well on their own. Chris is a good father, and Riley is a happy little girl for the most part. She's still internally hurt from a lot of the pain that Carlie caused, but she trusts Chris to protect her. What happens when Max's mom ends up face down on the floor with a bottle in her hand? What happens when Max gets in a CAR with a bottle in HER hand? Or when Chris gets a call that Riley's kidnapping case is being reopened on the same night Jack's family gets a call that Phoebe's murder case has been reopened? Or when Carlie and Riley start to get close again? Or when Jack, Riley, Max, and Emily all end up sitting in the lobby of an abortion clinic in Connecticut? However, demons of McKayla's past soon return to haunt her, and they end up affecting her friends and the ones that she loves. All of this while she finds herself catching feelings for Chris; and he, her. McKayla begins to wonder if running away from her problems is the best solution, even if it means leaving the one she loves behind.
