At the end of the world, at the end of an era, the Regalites flee to Akka, a Paradise planet. When they arrive, they find all types of fantastical creatures surrounding them. They had finally fled their dying world. But a new threat awaits them, the Syrill, terrorizing the locals and making them bow to their evil ways. Amongst this chaos two pairs of lovers find themselves sucked into the fray by the call of help of a young Makanean woman who found her little girl mauled by the offending fish-people. This Syrill continue to terrorize the populace, kidnapping 10 Makanean children and eventually leading to an uprising when the woman's son, Alec, mysteriously disappears with the 10 children.
Amidst this chaos, the Syrill hide a dark secret that they don't wish to reveal- for it means revealing that they are weak in a way that can't be easily remedied, their Queen and Elders resorting to ever-desperate measures to fix a horrible affliction.

Can they survive? Is the little girl going to be okay? What is the secret of the Syrill? And where is Alec?
