Seventeen-year old Alex Carter has been dealt the worst cards in life. She is tired, tired of feeling numb. She wants to let loose and enjoy at least a few months in her life, where she doesn't have to worry about someone in the hospital and how much longer they may have to live. She wants to feel. To heal. To mourn and most of all stop feeling numb.

James Smith is not your average bad-boy high school senior. He's not arrogant, cocky, rich or handsome. Well, maybe not the last part. He's had a happy life as long as he can remember. His father left his family when he was 12 years old. His mother stepped in and played the role of both his father and mother. He helped raise his 5-year old sister and guided her. James doesn't believe in love, having experienced it first-hand and what a disaster it turned out to be.

What happens when James mother suddenly falls sick and he doesn't have the money to pay for her treatment and coincidentally, as if it were a miracle, someone offers him money, money to break Alex's heart?
