Princess Daliah, daughter and only child of King Vurtrum, King of Milsdale, has just turned sixteen. The age of where she has to be wedded, it is a tradition passed down from her royal ancestors for generations. But on the night of the choosing ceremony, she meets Kai, a lowly homeless boy, who takes her heart, despite her fathers request for her to be married to a man of wealth and royal blood.
She soon gets whisked away by her new lover, keeping him a secret with the help of her maid Marigold. But she soon realizes, that she is to be married the next day.
