Set in the period of Twilight:New Moon, when Jacob goes into Bella's room to insist that she remember the stories about his wolfy nature, she suggests they run away. This diverges from canon there, because Jacob accepts and they both set up going on a roadtrip, with Charlie and Sam's (reluctant) consent.
Meanwhile Alice sees Bella disappear off the radar, or maybe glimpses where she's in a truck driving itself with no real direction and gets worried, however instead of alerting her already temperamental brother Edward, she sends her emotionally manipulative boyfriend to talk to him, while she goes to Forks to talk to Charlie about it.
