The waiter stood next to us, asking if I was alright and if we would like dessert.
"No, thank you," I spoke as normally as I could.
"Jo, dear, are you alright ? No, dessert ?" He asked mockingly "You love dessert. And they serve a good variety, especially the baking section."
"No," I said, which unintentionally sounded fierce.
"Are you sure ?"
"Yes, Jack," I said, letting out a soft moan, "Let's just go," I added.
The waiter looked at Jack, "Would you like something, sir ?"
Jack looked at me, amused. A finger on his chin, contemplating.
He was enjoying it way too much, and I, I just wanted a release. With open eyes and a closed mouth, I begged him, I begged him to say No, to leave. And he agreed.
He asked the waiter for the cheque.
The waiter left, glancing back at us as if something wasn't right.
The only thing wrong was, me; my insides were burning...
