Percy went back to Camp Half-Blood after asking Athena for Annabeth's hand in marriage everyone was either ignoring him or bullying him. He was gone for a month doing trials to get Athena's approval and Annabeth cheats on him. Percy is heartbroken and he leaves camp, only to meet Chaos. He becomes Commander of Chaos's army and he brings back his dead demigod friends, Luke, Bianca, Zoë, Charles, and Silena.
