Life is like a game of dodgeball. Sometimes it chunks things that you can catch and throw right back at it. Sometimes it throws things you can narrowly miss, feeling the wind from it whoosh against your skin. And sometimes, it throws things at you that you just can't dodge.

"Sixty Seconds" is about Ainsley Vermont's journey while battling a terminal disease. She avoids following Doc's orders because she's convinced she's invincible.

However, she knows what everyone around her will think about her once they know, so she hides it from everyone, trying to shut them all out. At the same time, she wants to keep her life as normal as possible.

It's a little back and forth. She wants to keep people from getting hurt because she knows that they won't believe she isn't going to let this thing take her down, all the while living her life the same as she did before- just in hiding.

She refuses to let the sickness get the best of her. So she keeps pushing people away and ignoring her health declination; the same thing every day, over and over again.

     Until she meets him.

Jessie White stands out from the crowd. As a Southern woman, she defies the typical expectations for a twenty-four-year-old. While others her age might be in college or embarking on new careers, Jessie's upbringing on a ranch alongside four brothers equipped her with skills many would balk at. She's adept at horseback riding, calving, stall cleaning, and more. Fiercely independent, Jessie refuses to rely on any man, a resolve hardened after heartbreak at the hands of Max Lane, a rancher's son, two years prior. Jessie has resolved to take up bull riding, a skill that appears to be a family legacy. Her lifelong dream has been to ride a bull before an audience, but now, her ambition has shifted to rescuing the White Family Ranch after a substantial portion of their funds vanished and debts began accumulating. Max Lane's family is eager to buy the White Family Ranch, but Jessie refuses to let him take away the one thing that sustains her. Being a beauty bartender owner and a female bull rider makes things challenging. Everyone says she can't do it because she's a woman, but Jessie is determined to prove them all wrong. Initially skeptical, Trace Black doesn't recognize her potential until he witnesses her mount a bull for the first time. Although he may appear arrogant externally, that pales in comparison to his internal complexity. Trace and Jessie are initially oblivious to their chemistry, though it's evident to everyone around them. As Jessie gathers the courage to express her feelings to Trace, the things she dreads occur. However, it doesn't make matters worse; it alters everything profoundly. *WARNING* Book contains language, child loss, trauma, etc. Thank you for choosing my story! Reagan Renne Walker left the tiny town that she grew up in in Wyoming five years ago to fulfill her dream of opening an equine therapy ranch in Montana & to start a new life. Reagan's parents died when she was just seven years old. Mallory, Reagan's older sister, was still too young to care for both herself and her sister. As a result, Reagan and Mallory were forced to live with their grandparents. Mamaw and Papaw Walker sent both girls through school and college. Reagan never imagined leaving Wyoming. However, after her unexpected relationship with Swayde, her childhood best friend, and love of her life, took a turn for the worst, all Reagan could think about was that she couldn't get out of Wyoming fast enough. Swayde is your typical, rugged cowboy. His smile was enough to melt any girls heart, his eyes made it seem like the sun was always shining, even in the worst storm, his square jaw line accented his dark beard, his body thick with muscles. His physical features and build were intimidating at times, and didn't always match his laid back, easy going, gentlemanly personality. Swayde never thought he would fall for feisty Reagan, and even more so, Reagan never thought that she would fall for him. They end up in this unexpected whirlwind relationship, and everything is hunky dory until Reagan finds out a secret from Swayde's past that would forever change the way she looked at him; a secret he kept from her for over ten years. Confiding in her grandma, Reagan finds out that her grandparents knew the secret all along too. How could the people she thought loved her hurt her so bad and keep this big of a secret from her for so long? When tragedy strikes back in Wyoming, Reagan is forced to move back to the town she swore she would never step boot in again, thus leaving her new life in Montana behind. Through God, can Reagan find a way to forgive the people who hurt her, or will she forever consider Alpine Ridge "Heartbreak Town?"

Jacob's anger, yelling and all the abuse. Saying he's sorry over and over and that it won't happen again, but it's the same thing over and over. He would say anything to make me stay. Always an apology then back to his old tricks. He doesn't know I got a phone call this morning while he was at work. A phone call from someone with a number that I didn't' recognize. I looked up the number online, and it came back to a mental institution. I can't imagine what I was thinking not listening to my gut the first time he hit me. But I packed my stuff from the closet in a bag and left. I have been on the road for hours when my phone starts buzzing next to me. I see his name pop up and just ignore it. I focus on the road ahead and although I have no clue where I am going I just drive. I tried to do everything I could to make him happy with me but nothing I ever did was right. Everything would set him off and make him fly off the handle. I couldn't call my parents and let them know what was happening. I chose to leave the moment I graduated high school because I knew what was best. Boy was I wrong!
