"I'll be here forever, Wise Girl. I promise."
I wanted to believe him, I really did. My gaze flickered upward, my eyes meeting his, seeking more than just words to persuade me. His familiar sea green eyes shone with sincerity and something else, something I couldn't quite place- and it took my breath away, leaving me drowning in him, grasping for anything just to keep my head above the water.
"I promise," he whispered once more, and it seemed to be less of an assurance, and more of a vow, his oath to me. An oath he intended to keep.

Waking up without any memories is a disorienting feeling. Waking up with no memories next to a really hot guy in the same situation as you, that's a decidedly worse feeling.
But immediately getting attacked by some monster thing two seconds later is not even weird anymore. Just pathetic.
