The bright and easy-going smile that Richard was so famous for was getting harder to maintain. The constant flashing lights of cameras and video camcorders wherever he went was all he could see when he closed his eyes to rest- not that he managed a respite longer than two minutes. The explicit questions he was asked from the swarming paparazzi and reporters were worse, digging excruciatingly into pits of his stomach he didn't know he had and stabbing ruthlessly at his aching heart. The mere mention of his father figure's name tore his deteriorating mind apart; let alone the added name of the butler, who was one of the best men Dick had ever known. He had managed to keep himself together through the first harrowing press conference. Through it, Lucius had been right beside him for support. His earnest hand pressed against his tension-filled shoulder held him up in such a hard time. After he had finished his speech- that had been written with shaky hands- Lucius guided him back inside his father's legacy.

"Hazel." "What?" "My name." I swallowed hesitantly, afraid to shatter the silence between us anymore than I already had, "It's Hazel." The silence of the night made it seem as if someone breathing too loud could make the silence shatter into a million pieces. My voice was no exception, and I was terrified that if I spoke to loud, even one word, the it would shatter, along with everything in the room. The silence seemed to make my voice feel smaller than it was, so when I finally heard his footsteps again, it shocked me to hear how loud and distinctive each one was, as if the silence broke just for him. As if he ruled the silence. It's as if he didn't even view the silence as fragile, but a force that he had to over come. And he didn't want to back down from the fight. <~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~> Summary: Hazel has always tried to do the right thing and be the best person she can be, but that can get confusing when you end up being hunted by someone you don't even know. Or she thought she didn't. Her life has few shadows and a lot of light. Jason Todd has a past that he can't seem to recover from, while Hazel has a past that seems perfect. What happens when both of these are proved wrong? His life has a lot of shadows and few light. And what if the person who helps Hazel ends up being the person who is the most opposite from her? <~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~><~> Rankings: Jason Todd #4 Batfamily #1 Red hood #1 Nightwing #1 Robin #1 Red Robin #2 bruce wayne #1 batman #1 wally west #1 dick grayson #1 tim drake #3 original character #4

4 parts Ongoing Mature

When he was young he was the ward of Bruce Wayne and talk of the tabloids. As a member of Young Justice, in a mission gone wrong he almost lost his best friend to none other than Deathstroke the Terminator. Grief and guilt swallowed him whole, and that's when it all went wrong. He went after the mercenary, and was killed by a quick slash across his neck. However, his death wasn't the end, because that would be too easy. Dick Grayson--brought back by the Lazarus Pit--whose now dead to the world is useful to the mercenary as his student, successor, and pawn. After years of being a toy to the contract killer Dick escaped and ran from himself and everything he's ever known. He now goes by Grayson Lloyd, but mostly referred to as Gray. He took his mothers maiden name, and returned to Gotham, but not as a hero, as something the city would come to dispute about. Vigilante. Killer. Hero. Murderer. Mercenary. He's everything in between: the gray area if you will. To the crude city he's known as 'The Gotham Reaper'. The Batfamily of course have something to say about this new vigilante. This is Batman's city after all.
