Losing your best friend is always tough. But what if your best friend is not only a princess but also the last heir to a kingdom, and has chosen you as her successor? 

Hunted by various factions that want to rule the kingdom of Zanna, Nella has to leave the only life she has ever known behind as she goes into hiding. Her only companion is Auriane, a magician, who has betrayed the magician's guild by aiding Nella, as the guild's powerful leader wants the kingdom for herself. 

When Tervas, a young warrior, who, like all of the warriors of the royal army, has been ordered by his master, the head of the royal army, to capture Nella is captured himself by Auriane he only is not immediately killed by her because Nella persuades her not to. She doesn't want any more people to die because of her, since many have already perished in the civil war that has engulfed the kingdom as rivaling factions struggle for power.
