Farah, a slave, who has lived in the slums of Merciana her entire life. The Queen buys Farah, one of the best and most behaved slaves, for Avalon, who knows nothing about life at court. Will Farah and Avalon clash, letting Farah's envy control her, or will they work together to root out the lies and betrayals at court?

Avalon, a lowborn noble, agrees to move to Merciana at the Queen's behest. She is offered a spot to partake in Trenka, an event that happens every ten years, to see if she, or any of the other recruits, are worthy enough to become a Protector. Can she overcome her fears and doubts and participate in Trenka, or will she succumb to her anxiety and retreat to her village?

Not sure if this will be any good... Just wanting to test the waters and see what people think about my writing. (I'll try to upload whenever I can!)

This story is a romantic fantasy set in the future. Keep in mind each chapter is 10 page long. In the year 2200, the world is no longer ruled by presidents or individual governments. The entire globe is ruled by a single immortal king - King Sulfur. Continents are now "categories" separating people in terms of talent. Aurelia, the protagonist, is apart of the beauty category. Although Elexia is a world in which everyone is satisfied, those in the beauty and slavery categories still face oppression. Those in her category are to become escorts and prostitutes when they're of age, not given an alternative choice in contrast to those in every other category. Aurelia was born to become the king's personal escort despite her impeccable talents in each category and when she was taken to the castle, she kept true to herself and held on to her sharp tongue. She soon realized that the castle hides many secrets. She was met with the anonymous eight who were King Sulfur's closest friends. No one knew their true purpose and looks beyond the castle's court because the castle's magic would erase everyone who stepped out's memory of them. The two strongest of the eight turn out to be the main love interests of Aurelia. While she tries to resolve her unrequited feelings for a man she formerly despised, she realizes that she has grown attached to the king. She simultaneously wrestles feelings for her old best friend and tries to discover with whom her heart truly lies. TW: oppression, sexism, vulgar language and scenes. Mature content and intimate scenes present.

What lies ahead for her as she embraces her vampire mate and strives for a better life?" ---/--- "You're distracting me-ah, Vincent!" He put his hands on my waist, pulling me closer to him. I'm not used to being so close to a man without being hit. The last time I was safe in a man's arms was when I was a kid with my dad. "A'roya," he whispers, admiring my face. "Vincent," I whispered back, playing with the wet hairs on the nape of his neck. "I love you." I must've smiled so damn wide. I put my forehead on his, trying to reel in tears. God, I'm such a crybaby. "I love you too." Vincent sighed confidently. "Oh, I know." I sighed and rolled my eyes. At this point, I'm used to this man. (EDITED TO A READABLE STATE.) Crown Princess Leonore, heir to the queendom of Dranath, likes women, obviously. The Queen Mother Carmilla marries her off to Sir Gabriel, obviously. So when she finds out Sir Gabriel is a woman... Dranath; queendom of mystique, bordered by jealous allies. To the southwest, the states of Aurune. East is the coast and the maritime poleis of Raham. To the north, the Hierstag clans. Rich in land and crop and poor in everything else, the queendom is closed in from all fronts. And when the sword of years-long grudges is brought to bear, who will play it to the hilt? ------------------------------ i wanted to say that this book is my love letter to imperialism, but it's actually lovingly crafted hatemail non-anonymously submitted to imperialism's tumblr asks. this is an exploration of how much suffering one can propagate in order to achieve one's goal, and the degree in which your decisions can be justified (even only to yourself!) before you become, essentially, irredeemable; an exercise in Is It Worth It Though yeah there's magic(k) in this one. and a lot of geopolitics! might have gotten carried away with the geopolitics. come for the gay, stay for the political machinations. or come for the political machinations and stay for the gay, i dont mind. 3rd person pov, leonore-centric, no homophobia (at least, not the kind we usually see), i want to say butch/femme but honestly it's butch gabriel/whatever the hell leonore is. folk anti-hero narrative or villain origin story, you decide
