Lucian Fontaine is a single father of three children. He is also the result of a union between a god and a mortal woman, kept busy by his obligations to the system that powers an infinite multiverse and exhausted by his obligations to his family. He relies on his fourteen-year-old son Angel to help manage the workload ... although in the year 2005, Angel is seriously stretching the definition of the word 'reliable'.
In many ways, Angel is a normal teenage boy. Distracted in school and failing as a result, bored with his life and annoyed by his family. But especially his father -- he is rarely at home these days, and he expects Angel to be responsible for running the household in his absence, which tends to be kind of complicated when the household is located on an abandoned island in a timeline where most of the human population has died off. The chores are endless, and his younger brother and sister chafe against his authority. He is lonely, overwhelmed, exhausted, and sees no relief in his future ... until by chance he discovers his family may not be so alone in the multiverse after all.
In spite of appearances, Angel is no ordinary teenage boy. He is blessed with powers due to his strange ancestry, most of them restricted from his use until his father deems him ready. He knows he has the ability to escape and disappear into the flow of time. All he has to do is unlock his full potential and not get caught by his father.
Through his journey, he discovers that nothing and no one is what they seem, and sometimes, his prayers do get answered ... but not remotely in the way he intended.
Book 1 in a series about a family struggling to come together against powerful forces with a vested interest in keeping them apart.
