This is a story I've had in the works for quite a while now, but just finally got around to finishing. It's not inspired by any story or culture in particular, except for maybe the common, European fairy-tale concept of protective parental figures hiding their daughters away from the big, bad world, like in the stories of "Rapunzel" and "Sleeping Beauty," but the original and magical motivation for this kind of overprotection is entirely of my own creation and is meant to speak to the idea of loving someone too much and/or to the point of suffocation, which is something I have occasionally experienced and know that many others have as well. I also got some inspiration from the fascinating Silbo Gomero language, which is an entirely whistled language used by the La Gomera people of the Canary Islands as a way to communicate over the long distances, deep ravines, and narrow valleys that make up the mountainous terrain of their island. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy and, as always, feedback of any kind is more then welcome and encouraged.
