Ophelia Lee moves from the infamous city of New Orleans to the small, cloudy town of Homer, Alaska. City lights are replaced by the stars, and dealing with the prejudices the town has against her based on her mother's past, Ophelia can't help but feel a bit overwhelmed. Not to mention the secret she has to hide from her grandfather, who has sworn off all things otherworldly ever since her mother ran away.

She comforts herself with the fact that at least she's not the only shunned outcast in the town. The dangerously beautiful Cullen family seem to be banished from the small community for reasons no one can comprehend.

She can't help but grow attached to the distant family, the banished flocking to the banished, and especially grow an attachment to the youngest of the family, the boy with the eyes of a million riches.

Will she be able to hide her true identity from the ever-knowing family, and more importantly, hide her feelings from a boy who deemed her to be doomed?
