A "canon divergence" scenario for New Kids on the Rock #5: The Vigilante, featuring an iconic graphic novel character. Or rather, one scenario with two different outcomes.
Note: this is weirdly dark and intense, which is why I'm not putting it in many tags-- this isn't the kind of thing I think most people will want to see. Basically, it's closer in tone to watchmen than it is to nkotr.

After escaping Hydra during a mission, 13 year old Peter Parker is put into child protection services who bring him to an orphanage full of abuse. After a year of debate he decides to put on a mask as the vigilante Spiderman to use his powers to protect rather then kill. Soon his actions are noticed by Shield and the Avengers and the team is put into action. During this madness Tony Rodgers Stark and Steve Rodger's Stark decide to adopt.
