Skylar Sorrows, isn't your typical girl. Her appealing bright orange hair, all black clothes (AKA Band T-shirt and skinny jeans), and the cuts on her wrists to show the several layers of self harm she has put on her 16 year old self. Every day she goes home to a single, drug dealing, alcoholic dad who doesn't give a shit about her. The only person she has, and the only person to give her relief, doesn't know she exists. His name is Gerard Way.

At her job at the local Starbucks in Bellevile New Jersey, she meets the person who she least expects to come in contact with. He shows her what it is to live life out in the open. The two lovebirds fall in love. When all is well, a devastating tragedy happens, obliterating all hopes Skylar had in her new, wonderful, life.
