Ivy Jane Sommers has had a hard summer. A long hard summer. After losing someone close to her, she is lost and untethered. Until her mom gives her a choice: help her run the estate sale for this obscure mansion, or go back to Carolyn, Ivy's out-of-touch therapist. She chooses the mansion (because who wants to be known as the "therapist girl" at school?) and begins the mindnumbingly boring work of sorting clutter into boxes. Then she stumbles upon a jar filled to the top with paper cranes.
Soon, with the help of a boy (that she maybe might like?), she begins to see how these cranes are part of a vast web connecting her, the boy, the mansion, and an old dusty journal, as they embark on a curious, mysterious, and captivating journey into the past.
{PREVIOUSLY OCTAVIA'S JOURNAL} After her parent's unexpected break up, 15 year old Octavia Johnson is gifted a journal by her Uncle Zane. They share a bond no one really understands and she uses the journal to try to stay close to him once she moves away. However, things aren't how they seem. Nothing is adding up. No one is talking to each other. Questions aren't being answered. What is going on? Octavia tries to find out.
