From the moment I had laid my hands across the cold keys of a piano, I knew that something was different.
I'm not sure just what tipped me off. Maybe it was the instant pull I felt towards it. It possibly could have been the elegant way that the instrument stood upon the hardwood floors of my family's graceful mansion.
Or perhaps it was the "shadow man" who sat beside me while I played, creating a duet out of every piece that I performed.
Perhaps.
One thing is for certain, though. That shadow man was no ordinary shadow man. He was black and white, light and dark, the beginning and the end, life and death...
And he...
...Was the reason why I am alive.
