Strike Zone: A Sandlot Fan fiction

As night fell, Sadie stood on her front porch, watching Benny walk away from her front lawn, thinking about the 'baseball team' she and Scotty seemed to join. Benny especially was unique compared to the other boys as Sadie could tell how differently he carried himself, making him stand out like a sore thumb. She got the sense that he had been evaluating her, even in the course of normal conversation. He was observant and attentive to what she had to say. Something that most people wouldn't give her. She supposed that is why the group always seemed to turn their heads to Benny for guidance having already gained their trust and respect towards him. I like him. The thought felt at once surprising but natural, who wouldn't? She sighed to herself walking toward the front door stopping just as she reached the door handle to turn and look at him fade into the distance. She smirked to herself before heading inside, maybe playing baseball all summer wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.
