Adrien wasn't necessarily a skinny kid in fact he was a bit overweight. His only friend was Nino.
Marinette was the popular girl but she was nice to everyone including Adrien. She even had a crush on him.
She starts being nice to him and invites him and Nino to join their friends group. However Marinette is dating Luka the most popular guy in the school who bullies Adrien. What happens when Adrien has enough of Luka bullying him and leaves school to get in shape and he comes back at the start of their senior year.
