Raelen has and abusive father it's more mental then physical but it still have messed her up she dose self harm because of him and other stuff her mom is still there but doesn't do anything she makes empty promises of leaving but never dose. raelen has a lot of mental issues that will be explained in the story.
Jace has a good father he just happens to be a pretty bad ass gang leader. Jaces mother isn't in the picture she left when he was 7, jace likes to go by jay because it's cooler to him and his gang. Jay doesn't care for girls they aren't one of his priorities but he finds an interest in Rae.
