He is a hybrid, the only hybrid of their clan, that was raised solely by the Devil who deliberately kept him oblivious to his clan and, his older brother and his purposes from disengaging in his life.
Takashi Dio is the main cause of Katharine's pain, but also her power, since she shared a great connection to him. She knows what his main objective is - to seek revenge. However, she doesn't know the reason for it. But as time went on, she became aware of Dio's vengeance to the people. And involving in his act or just being with his side caused her precious loved ones to get hurt. Hence, she wished to be freed.
