Alex is attempting to spy. With her best friend Will, of course. And apparently spying involves climbing a cliff. When things take an unexpected turn, Alex finds herself surrounded by unfamiliar people and an unfamiliar world. But that was what she wanted all along, isn't it?
Years later, Alex and Will learn of a prophecy. That, of course, involves them. They find their circle of friends- and frenemies- and enemies. And they all learn that their group is destined to free a group of "ancients".
