"I hate you."

"Are you sure? I don't think I got a fair chance."

"I am."

"Are you very sure?"

"Has anyone ever told you that you're full of yourself?"

"No."

"Well, they should."

Her definition of perfect was quiet and dull. He was anything but. Theo Parker was full of life; smiles always lighting his face and a camera on him, ready to snap a photo at any given moment along with almost living at the basketball court. Smiling at anyone who looked his way. She wanted to hate him, but she couldn't find it in her to do so.

He defined perfection as impossible. Until he met her. He was aware of the glares and harsh words she sent his way, but under what seemed like not so subtle hatred she was smart and caring. Camilla Moretti didn't need anyone's approval or cared about their opinions. She didn't need anyone, and he admired that.

Sometimes staying is easier than leaving; but maybe leaving would've been more simple.

Moira ~ A person's destiny ************************************ I was holding the photo tightly in my grasp when I felt a presence behind me. Ace came closer to me and reached around me causing his chest to press into my back. Before I could control myself, a breathless gasp escaped me from feeling the sparks from the places we were touching. Ace didn't say anything, instead, he took the photo from my hand and backed away. I turned around to see Ace walking back to the couch he was just sitting on. I leaned back against the bookshelf as Ace sat down. Looking at Ace, I needed to know. I needed to know why he had a photo of me from before. Why would he have one when he was the one who rejected me? He hated me and yet he kept a photo of me for years. I felt a feeling of loss like I had never felt before. I was confused and hurt. Why did he have that photo? I had so many questions for him. I whispered, not wanting to break the silence but needing an answer, "Why?" One word, three letters, a beginning of a question. Not enough meaning behind it but he knew what I meant. Even if I didn't know what I wanted it to mean. Because in my head, a thousand questions I needed him to answer. Why did he reject me? Why take a picture of me? Why keep that picture of me for years? Why did he choose Brittney? Why didn't he love me? Why was I not good enough? But instead of asking all these questions, I chose to ask one word with only three letters. Because that one word held all my questions in it. It held the pain that I felt. It held the rejection, the hope, and the anger. Ace looked at the picture, "I needed you." ************************************

"Wanted to be bold." I blush while I avoid eye contact. "Devin needed to borrow clothes for gym." I stare at my bare legs. "I should've told her no." He shrugs, biting into his sub. "Not a fan of exposing the body." I nibble on my burrito. "I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea." I tuck my hair behind my ear. "That you're easy." My face reddens as I look at him in the corner of my eyes. After a few moments, I nod. He sighs. "The only thing that makes a girl easy is if she lets every and any guy inside." He runs his fingers through his hair. "Clothes or attitude has nothing to do with it." I trace a circle on my thigh. "And a guy that believes otherwise is either a dick or a rapist." I smile. "Avery." "Ava." "Your brain works in wonderful ways." I get more comfortable and lean on his shoulder. "So you've said." I giggle. "I'm glad to share the same name as you." ~ A girl, a perfectionist, named Avery Jones has been in love with her childhood friend's brother for as long as she can remember. He's never noticed her, though, he doesn't really notice anyone. He's sort of an insouciant philanderer. They couldn't be any different, the only thing that connects them is their names. Oh, by the way, his name is also Avery Jones; no relation. As crazy as it might sound, it's true. Anyway, it isn't until she becomes his mentor that he finally sees her. But will this new circumstance spark a connection or show just how different they are?
