Angel Donovan survived the Civil War, Sherman's invasion of the South, and years of humiliation singing in saloons, but even though she has left her past behind, the memory of it still clings to her like a stain. Volunteering as a housekeeper at the O'Connor homestead seems like a perfect way to escape the whispers surrounding her, but when she arrives she finds things are more complicated than she bargained for.

A former Confederate soldier falsely accused of murder, Aidan O'Connor's reputation and size have caused most of the people in Sweetwater to steer clear of him, but when his brother dies, Aidan finds himself unexpectedly saddled with his niece and nephew, who have no one else. Hiring Angel as housekeeper only makes things more complicated--especially when Aidan starts falling for her.

Can Angel let go of her past and fall in love? And will Aidan be able to prove himself to his newfound family?

Devlin Riley. Devlin is a Texas Ranger. He p and Holly fall in love and marry, and Holly has a baby, Owen. For the period of time that Devlin is a part of their lives, there is some stability for Holly and Jessie.
