A Shift Between Universes

Sadie Hawk was a mess since her best friend, Joe, died. She could not fathom how someone so young could just go to sleep and never wake up. He had been strong and one hell of a fighter. He had always been her guardian, watching over her like a knight of old. A heart condition? How was it possible that someone as strong and fierce as him had such a silent killer inside. His faithful wolf, Freya, was his parting gift to her. It was almost as if he had somehow known that he would not always be around to protect her when he had written his will only a week before, entrusting the massive domesticated wolf to her. One last act of protection. While out on a walk through the woods, something happens that she cannot explain. Her surroundings subtly change and she is no longer where she once was...
