i hadn't heard it before

you looked up at the board

and said nothing

it seemed like an eternity

an eternity that my eyes were fixed
on your cherry lips

awaiting your answer

and then you spoke

i didn't hear what you said

i just heard your voice

the tone

the color

the texture

that's when I knew

your voice was the most beautiful thing
your voice was the only thing I wanted to hear
