Dispersed

In the population-dense city of Chicago, the faction system takes hold of everyone's lives. Different factions work together, all factions go to highschool together. However, the divide is clear in social hierarchies, clothing colors and choices, and general areas of the city. The faction system used to be extremely separated. Everyone used to live with their factions, and factions didn't mingle. Over time, they've dispersed. One rule remains, being that Divergent is forbidden. Dangerous.

Beatrice Eaton is a new Dauntless ambassador, having recently passed initiation at the top of her class at 16. Being raised by Marcus Eaton, she always felt out of place. She didn't look like Marcus, and he made sure she knew he didn't like her at all. He often spouted off that her dead mother had probably cheated, and she was lucky he was even taking in a child that wasn't his. While struggling to hide her Divergence as leaders start to realize she thinks like the other factions too much in her practices, she works hard to try and hide herself and her past. Going by Tris to hide from the horrors of her past.

Four Prior grew up with a seemingly perfect life. Yet one hole in his adopted family always stood. The Priors' younger child had been kidnapped and never seen again. The Priors had taken in Four around the same time as a baby in an alleyway. He felt like he'd never truly belonged in their family, almost as if he stuck out like a sore thumb. He dedicated his life to service in his chosen faction, teaching during initiation cycles. However Tris never came through his doors, all "peaceful" factions having gone directly to Eric. Regardless, he feels he constantly needs to escape the mold his adoptive family left for him.

Things are unfolding, and choices need to be made. Can he soften her? Can she let him in?
