It had been a blissful 5 years with the man I fell in love with. Until the day that he died. We had made plans to go hiking in the mountains and camping for a week. Three days in is when everything took a turn for the worse. We had just set up camp and where ready to call it a night when we heard it. A high pitched scream ran through the forest and Max insisted on going to help whoever it was.



You see I used to be an utter wimp so I was trying to convince him to stay away from it. I should have tried harder. He ran towards the screaming and I followed after him. I wasn't about to be alone... In the woods.... Where there are screaming people... We were jumping over tree limbs and trying not to trip over any rocks on our way. we finally reached a clearing. Max didn't even hesitate. In the middle of said clearing there was a woman being held by a pale and skinny man. It looked like she had planned on camping as well.

I'm not going in there." "You're overacting," Henri said with a dramatic eye roll with a worth of a slap across his face. Lucky for him, I kept my hands at my sides. I cried against his strong build. He stroked my hair and whispered repetitively, "Its ok. I'm here now. Don't worry. I'm all yours."' Everyone has to start somewhere. My life started without a dad. People change their minds and people make mistakes. My mom did just that when she left me at four years old with my Great Aunt Lorie. I know where my mom lives, but I wish I didn't. Don't get me wrong, I still love her to death, but sometimes...forgiveness...is hard to give out...to everyone. 'I jumped over the river that I had never crossed before. I heard my mom calling my name behind me, but I ignored her. Tears streamed down my face. Now, on the other side of the river, I was in a forest, jumping over logs and fallen tree trunks, pushing leaves out of my face. I stopped when I finally felt fully isolated. I sat down on a small rock and cried and cried and cried. I guess this is where I will stay for now. I guess these are just my woods for now. Just my woods for now.'
