"I... I am so sorry, you... aren't who I was looking for." The detective murmured, coming to a halt with a skid, the damp ground dotting his legs with water. The sound of his own heart beating and his heavy breathes filled his ears, and his hand fumbled for his phone. He was in a panic, and he had to call Mason before he couldn't calm himself. His feet splashed the puddles below him, and his cold fingers quickly dialed Mason's number and held it up to his ear, ignoring the shaking in his hand.
Mason jumped slightly when his phone started ringing and he studied the number for a moment, a picture of the detective flashing on the glass screen before he swiped the green call button, a small smile on his face and a soft laugh escaping his lips. "DId you get lost?" He stood from his place on the couch and shut off the t.v. with a remote, moving to shut the door after Atlas ran in.
The sound of Mason's voice rang in his ears for a moment, and whatever panic he seemed to feel was forced to a stop. He couldn't ruin the others' night, and the happiness in his voice made him suck in a deep breath and force a laugh. "Maybe. I am running a bit late, Custard got out for a second but I caught her." He replied, forcing as much of a happy tone as he could muster in the moment.
