After spending the first six weeks of her junior year in the hospital, slightly depressed (but mostly tired) Everett Meyers finds it hard to fit back into the routine of her small Catholic school, especially considering she lost what little faith she had back at the hospital. So when Everett’s parents suggest that she move to a traditional high school after the semester ends, she’s quick to agree.
Before she knows it, Everett is saying goodbye to everything she used to know and staring down the main (and very crowded) hallway of North View High School. Coming to a new school in the middle of the year proves more difficult than Everett thought, because she not only has a lot of school work to make up, but also has to figure out how the hell to make some friends. But when her counselor decides she needs a tutor, Everett gains a whole lot more than homework help.

This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. The main character fell for a popular boy in their high school. For multiple months, the main character has been hiding themselves from this boy, Tal, because they've been scared of what Tal may think of them. After a while of waiting and hiding, Tal finally notices the main character and automatically falls in love with them; they had love at first sight. Slowly this major change affected the main character, their everyday life, and experiences they haven't had before. Their friends leave them and the main character is left with Tal and a few of his friends.
