Angels and Demons.
People used to fear both Angels and Demons alike and their powers, but then scientists began capturing and studying them. Both Angels and Demons went into hiding, and weren't expected to come back.
But the Angels did. They stepped forward and made an agreement to use their powers for the good of the people in exchange to not be tested on.
Angels naturally had good powers and Demons naturally had bad powers. But no one has seen a Demon in 50 years, and after so many generations, the rare Demon gene is lost.
Or so they thought.
